Letter of Guarantee
We offer various types of guarantees to meet your tendering and contracting needs: From Non-Financial Guarantees like Tender and Performance Guarantees to more:
- Tender Guarantee: Assures the project owner that the bidder will honour their bid and sign the contract if selected.
- Performance Guarantee: Ensures the contractor will complete the project according to the agreed terms and conditions.
- Advance Payment Guarantee: Protects the buyer if they make an advance payment to the seller before receiving goods or services.
- Retention Guarantee: Allows the contractor to receive full payment by replacing the cash retention with a bank guarantee.
- Payment/Financial Guarantee: Assures the beneficiary that a specific financial obligation will be met by the guaranteed party.
- Customs Guarantee: Enables importers to clear goods through customs before paying applicable duties and taxes.
Import Letter of Credit
Letters of credit are one of the most secure payment terms required by many sellers and exporters. We offer letter of credit facilities where National Bank of Bahrain acts as an issuing bank, guaranteeing payment to your suppliers against complying documents. Additional solutions include:
- Letter of Credit Refinancing: The bank provides financing to the importer after the LC has been issued, helping manage cash flow
- Usance Payable at Sight (UPAS) Letter of Credit: Allows the exporter to receive immediate payment while the importer enjoys extended credit terms.
- Standby Letter of Credit (SBLC): Acts as a guarantee of payment, typically used in ongoing business relationships or for large transactions.
Export Letter of Credit
As an exporter or seller, a letter of credit favouring your business provides an undertaking and comfort to receive payment against shipment of goods, provided shipping documents comply with terms and conditions of the letter of credit. The services include:
- Letter of Credit Advising: The bank informs the exporter about the terms of the LC issued by the importer’s bank.
- Letter of Credit Negotiation: The bank examines documents presented by the exporter and provides payment if they comply with LC terms.
- Letter of Credit Confirmation: The bank adds its guarantee to the LC, assuring payment to the exporter even if the issuing bank fails to pay.
- Letter of Credit Discounting: The bank provides immediate payment to the exporter by discounting the future payment due under the LC.
Documentary Collections
Open account trading is not always the best option for all importers and exporters. Certain businesses will require a bank to act upon its instructions, thereby giving control of the status of the shipping documents. Documentary collections eliminate high costs and charges of letters of credit with limited risk mitigation.
- Documentary Collection Refinancing: The bank provides financing to the importer towards bill payment helping manage cash flows
- Avalisation: The bank guarantees payment of a bill of exchange, enhancing the security of the transaction for the exporter.
Supply Chain Finance
Supply Chain Finance (SCF) optimises cash flow by allowing businesses to lengthen their payment terms.
- Invoice Prepayment: Buyer centric solution where the bank pays suppliers early at a discount, with the buyer paying the full amount to the bank at the original due date.
- Invoice Discounting: Suppliers sell their invoices to the bank at a discount, receiving immediate payment while buyers maintain longer payment terms.
- Advance Against Invoice: The bank provides an advance to the supplier against specific invoices, with the supplier retaining ownership and responsibility for collection.
Trade Import Loan
More than 90% of global trade is conducted on open account basis. Whether your supplier requires an advance payment or payment after receipt of goods, National Bank of Bahrain can offer financing against invoices and shipping documents, subject to terms and conditions.
Discounting Progress Payment Certificates
As a contractor, you may need funding to optimise cash flow, purchase raw materials, and cover operating expenses. Against an acknowledged progress payment certificate by an acceptable paymaster, National Bank of Bahrain can advance the funds, subject to terms and conditions.
