Direct energy consumption
*Petrol Consumption calculations were based on money spent, then converted to consumption using the Tariffs imposed on the type of Gasoline Consumed for each vehicle i.e.
Gasoline 91 or 95
The Tariffs rates are 0.140 BHD for Gasoline 91, and 0.200 BHD for Gasoline 95.
Diesel Consumption at NBB refers only to backup generators.
**Diesel was converted from m3 to GJ, and the conversion rate is 41.030 as per DataQualityApps e. K. website.
***Petrol was converted from m3 to GJ, and the conversion rate is 36.006 as per DataQualityApps e. K. website.
Note1 Diesel consumption is calculated on average since the consumption was not recorded on a monthly basis in 2021.
Petrol Consumption increased by 14% due to lifted covid restrictions and some branches in 2021 were not in operations (NBB reduced operating branches but didn’t permanently closed them). And subsequently this affected energy consumption from petrol.
Diesel consumption was not recorded on a monthly basis in 2021 so average consumption was reported. Hence, Q1 2022 showed higher percentage/use. And subsequently this affected energy consumption from Diesel.

*Branches Power Consumption was only reported in 2021. Three branches that did not report electricity consumption were excluded from the calculations as the landlord pays for the electricity consumption. The number of branches that reported electricity consumption is 20
**The conversion factor from Kwh to GJ is 0.0036 as per DataQualityApps e. K. website
***Energy intensity relates to internal energy consumption only. Energy Consumption Intensity was calculated by Dividing Energy Consumption (GJ) by the Number of Staff in Branches or Towers excluding interns and contractors as of 2021
Power (Electricity) consumption has decreased by approx. 10% in head offices due to installation of Building Management System; and 24% in branches some branches such as A’ali and Qalali are not in use/operations. Also staff awareness had increased.

Water consumption increased due to lifted covid restrictions and more staff returning to work in the office.

*The bank does not report any Hazardous waste as of 2021
**Paper consumption weight is calculated by multiplying the total number of papers consumed at NBB by the weight of one Ream of A3 or A4 paper
***Total Waste produced consists of the sum of Non-hazardous waste, Total paper consumed and General Waste.
General waste data collection started from August 2021 for NBB Towers
Note the collection of recyclable non-hazardous waste started in March 2021 for towers, and May 2021 for Branches. To be consistent, the figures in the template reflect recyclable non-hazardous waste in towers for March 2021 and March 2022.
Note General Waste data collection started in August 2021, hence the data for total waste produced is unavailable
The reason behind the decrease in non-hazardous is waste is due to the larger quantity of Nidduki paper shredded in Q1 2021 compared to Q1 2022.
Total paper consumed increased in Q1 2022 due to the staff returning to work in the office.

**The GHG Emissions Intensity was calculated by dividing the CO2e by the Number of Staff in Branches or Towers excluding interns and contractors as of 2021
***The intensity only includes scope 2 divided over the number of employees in towers and branches
****The intensity in Q1 2021 and Q1 2022 has been amended to include both Scope 1 and Scope 2 for towers
